Be You Yoga
Chantal (35) is a beautiful woman, but she has come to hate her body with those legs so much that she hides indoors. "Only after I've had liposuction can I finally be happy." Chantal has lipoedema and is slightly overweight, and is burdened by shame.
Lipoedema impacts not only the body but also how you see yourself. Many women experience a change in body image, feelings of shame, frustration, or misunderstoodness.
It can be difficult to accept yourself in a body that doesn't always do what you want, or looks different than what you're used to—especially in a society where thinness is often the norm. Other people's comments, misconceptions about lipedema, and years of struggle with clothing, pain, or weight can leave deep scars on your self-image.
During my coaching sessions, there's room for those feelings. We'll work on greater understanding and gentleness with your body, and on strengthening your body image – regardless of what others think or how you look. I believe you don't have to wait until your body "changes" to take good care of yourself. You deserve it now. Together, we'll gradually build your self-confidence, so you'll no longer be limited by the image in the mirror, but will find strength and peace in who you are.
How do you do that then?
First, by being kind to yourself, treating yourself as lovingly as you would a loved one. Second, by realizing that you're only human, and humanity is key when it comes to self-compassion. Everyone experiences feelings of shame, being stupid, imperfect, failing, being grumpy, and so on. That's just part of being human. It's not always easy to cope with life's ups and downs! Realize that this is human nature, and that you're not alone.
And finally, pause for a moment and notice what's alive within you right now, without judging it or trying to fix it. This is called mindfulness. Feel what you can feel. Give space to your emotions. Remember: everything you allow, releases you!
Yoga and meditation also help you feel more at home in your body by focusing your attention inward. Through breathing and gentle exercises, your mind becomes calmer and you engage with your body in a positive way.
Be You Yoga sessions for lipoedema
The yoga sessions I offer are specifically tailored to the needs of people with lipoedema. The postures and breathing exercises are designed to support the body without overloading it.
Through gentle stretching and targeted exercises, we can release blockages in the body, relieve muscle tension, and stimulate lymphatic circulation. This can contribute to a sense of relief, both physically and emotionally.
Do you recognize yourself in this?
If this resonates with you, know this: you don't have to do it alone. I guide women like you in learning to inhabit their bodies again—with gentleness, depth, and loving attention. Register here for Be You Yoga or the day retreat "Becoming Friends with Your Body."
Be You Yoga teaches you: you are already very
Besides the physical benefits, yoga for lipedema also offers mental benefits. The breathing techniques and relaxation exercises help reduce stress, anxiety, and the emotional burden that often comes with lipedema.
Yoga creates space for self-care, promotes self-acceptance, and helps develop a positive attitude toward your body. Regular yoga practice can help you gain more control over your health and daily life.
light - love - coming home
The journey from shame to self-love is not a transformation of who you are, but a peeling away of who you are not.
Beneath all the layers of judgment, fear, and pain…you are already there. Whole. Radiant. Loving.
Self-compassion, mindfulness, and yoga help you remember what your soul already knows: You are light. You are love. You are at home within yourself.
